Herb Society members prepare for “Herbs in Art”

In 1978, the Missouri Botanical Garden Herbarium asked The St. Louis Herb Society to make herbarium sheets of the individual herbs in the enlarged herb garden. It took all season for flowers and fruit from 75 different herbs to be collected and preserved.

In the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Museum Building, the Herb Society mounted a week-end display which celebrated “Herbs in Art”. Quilt and needlepoint hangings were shown as well as dried flower arrangements, pressed flower pictures, potpourri, a rug woven of herb-dried yarns, and a dried cone and nut swag.
